Solange Knowles being as fabulously fly as ever!
Peep her fly: pink ring, nails & lips matching the pumps.
I think this has to be the absolute best era to live in of all times! Fashion is evolving, multiple era's of style are revived all at once; moreover, rules and cliches are breaking or have broken and pure style has become the essence of who we are as individuals. My favorite saying, "you are your brand; act, talk and dress like it," exactly describes our unique generation of movers and shakers.
Today we can creatively express who we are in addition to who we "brand" ourselves to be by the way we dress. It's deeper than throwing some clothes on; furthermore, fashion is an art. An outward expression of who we are. Style is a talent. It takes confidence to wear big bulky dress boots in the summer, (what I am currently on right now) or to take two totally different trends and combine the two styles into a signature look of your own. Being true to yourself is key, wear only what feels comfortable to you. Then just simply leave your "swagg" on the corner, as jay would say, so someone else can come along and pick it up.
One of my favorite homeys @djjaywest has always told me their are two types of people, trendsetters and trend whores. The setters see things months sometimes years in advance. Then scramble to find the look or item, yes even if we have to make it ourselves, rock the look for a minute and then are off to the next new/nifty thing to cultivate into their own style. The trend whores, get it (late) once the item is massed produced and available to everyone and everywhere and they really do not do the trend any justice. Excuse my language, but they will rock the "Shig-gity" (my fancy word for s#it) out of a trend.
A classic example: chestnut colored Ugg Boots.
I have seriously been wearing those since my freshman year winter at Michigan State University in 2002. What year is it? I don't even think the trend whores are even rocking Uggs.... Its more like Snuggs, from your local Wigland shop near you!

I am not downing people who may not be financially able to just "Throw It in the Bag" like a Loso's single. However, there are ways to ball within your budget, which is a whole new blog topic coming soon. With access to bargain stores like Forever 21, you can not only stay with in your means, but a shopper can also start hip new trends that suit them for less, until their able to rock that YSL.
